Our Process
Mitchell Associates is highly motivated to plan, manage, and complete the project to match your vision on a timetable agreed upon by all parties. Our principal, Dave Mitchell, is involved in all phases of construction, starting with demolition and site management. Each day, he directly oversees employees and subcontractors, communicating with you as needed. The Mitchell Associates team carefully maintains daily job site maintenance, cleanliness, and security.

Planning and Contract
After an initial consultation and extensive planning, Mitchell Associates submits a proposal, including a detailed statement of the “scope of work” with a preliminary budget. The budget is completely transparent, showing subcontractors’ actual proposals and costs; labeling fixed costs and allowances; and indicating Mitchell Associates fees for the project as a whole. After we discuss any changes, we update those proposal documents and submit them as a contract with architectural drawings.

Drawings and Permits
Our team can work with your architect’s plans, or we can have our own architect draft detailed drawings. In either case, Mitchell Associates helps to turn the vision into a structurally sound plan, and then interface with the local government building departments to gain approvals and permits.

Daily Supervision
Dave Mitchell is a hands-on manager in the field every day. He facilitates excellent communication with you and the owners of nearby properties, especially if their property will be affected by the project. He is personally on-site when materials are delivered, when a subcontractor begins a job, and always present when a subcontractor is working. When assistants are on-site without him, Dave is in constant communication with them. Many of our clients remain in their home while we work.
