Q
What types of renovation and construction projects does Mitchell Associates do?
AOur team does full-home renovations and additions, specializing in period restorations. We also do new home construction and commercial projects.
Q
Can Mitchell Associates work with my designer or architect?
AAbsolutely, and we have worked with prominent architects and designers on many projects. We can also work directly with you and provide the architectural and structural drawings necessary for permitting.
Q
Where do you work?
ADave Mitchell holds a Class A contractor’s license in Washington, DC, which allows him to do all types of work.
Q
How long have you been in business?
AMitchell Associates was established in 2000, after its principal Dave Mitchell had already been self-employed as a contractor for more than ten years.
Q
Is Mitchell Associates insured and bonded?
AWe carry a five-star liability insurance package with $2 million in coverage. We are also bonded for $50,000.
Q
Will you stay within our budget and timetable? Is your price guaranteed?
AMitchell Associates is fully committed to completing work on the agreed timetable. We use a completely transparent proposal format and the price only changes if the project changes.
Q
Will I be able to live in my home while Mitchell Associates works on it?
AYes. We have completed many successful projects while the homeowners continue to live in the home.
Q
Do you provide free estimates? What will your initial consultation include?
AAfter an initial consultation and preplanning with you, Mitchell Associates submits a proposal which includes a detailed statement of the scope of the work with preliminary budget. The budget is completely transparent: we show you actual costs and proposals from our subcontractors, along with delineated percentage fees for administration, overhead, and management/site labor. This is a level of transparency that few contractors offer. After we discuss any changes, we update those proposal documents and submit them with a contract and architectural drawings. We always ensure clear communication about the plans, and we focus on achieving your goals for your home.
