From its inception, Mitchell Associates has completed numerous renovations and restorations, as well the construction of new homes in the Washington DC metro area, often working with prominent architects and/or designers. Dave Mitchell, our founder, is an experienced DC-based contractor with the experience, confidence, and commitment to excellence to help you to achieve the vision for your home.

Dave Mitchell’s success is driven by his professionalism, exceptional work ethic, and hands-on management style. He personally oversees every project, moving each along at a pace that does not compromise quality. Because of his advanced skills in high-end carpentry, he is able to both improve your home’s structure and enhance the finished product. Dave works closely with outstanding subcontractors whom he knows well.

Dave grew up in Washington DC, and completed his first residential carpentry job in Georgetown as a teenager, which led to his two-year cabinet maker’s apprenticeship. Through a majority of the 1990s, Dave worked as a self-employed contractor in Washington DC and California, founding Mitchell Associates in 2000.

When he can get away, Dave enjoys traveling in Europe, on the West Coast, and beyond – always with his eye on architectural details and new hardware stores!
